what I do

business engineering

I’ve spent seven years working on the payment systems behind the Swiss financial centre — from the QR Bill and next-generation debit cards to instant payments — turning scheme rulebooks and regulatory requirements into specifications that ship.
My core is requirements engineering for complex payment and card systems: ISO 20022, SEPA and SEPA Instant, SWIFT, and the domestic Swiss rails.
I also work across the payments landscape, not just one seat in it. As an independent consultant I advise fintechs and financial institutions on payment strategy, core-banking selection, and instant-payments scheme requirements.

I enjoy coding alongside writing specs and documentations. I recently shipped iso20022tester, an open-source ISO 20022 testing tool.
It generates and validates messages (pacs.008 and related types), with support for SEPA Instant and SPS CHF Instant, charge-bearer options, and IBAN/BIC validation. Built as a hands-on complement to my requirements and consulting work — the payment standards I specify on paper, implemented and testable in code.
